How do you live your aviation dream? Is it your profession, a hobby, something you’ve always wanted to do – but haven’t? Where do you go to live the dream? At the Orlando Apopka Airport, aviation buffs have found a home. Add Florida weather, Orlando attractions, and many fun destinations within the fuel range of a Cessna 172, and it’s an aviators paradise!
If you don’t have your pilot ticket yet, Central Florida is a great place to learn to fly. You’ll lose very few day to weather and there are plenty of flight schools. For example, the Orlando Apopka Airport has two flight schools and numerous independent flight instructors to help you achieve your goals.
An added benefit of learning to fly at X04 is added efficiency. Since the airport is uncontrolled and outside of Class B airspace, you are off the ground quick and the practice area (an informal area relatively clear traffic) begins just to the west of Orlando Apopka Airport. That means more time practicing your skills and less waiting for takeoff and flying to the practice area. You have to fly a minimum number of hours, so why not make them count??
Aircraft owners know that protecting your plane from the elements is key to preserving its value, especially during hurricane season. Hangars at the Orlando Apopka Airport are engineered to the latest wind codes. Both hangar rentals and hangar sales are available. But what’s really cool about owning or leasing an aircraft hangar? Hangar parties! For party ideas check out my post: Hangar Parties, Pig Roasts and Sundaes.
Amphibian aircraft are popular in Central Florida thanks to all of the lakes. A large number of SeaReys call Orlando Apopka Airport hangars home. On pretty weekends, it’s like watching a military exercise as they all fly out for $100 hamburgers. The nearby city of Tavares recently constructed a seaplane base and marina near downtown within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. On April 16, 2011, the City will host their first Seaplane Pilots Fly-In.
