Sun, heat, BBQ, planes and bikinis were just some of ingredients that helped cook up a good time at the First Annual Apopka Airport TNT Fly-In this weekend. Held at the Orlando/Apopka Airport near Zellwood, this event was organized by Central Florida Aviation.
Adding to the fun were aircraft, motorcycle and exotic car displays, a bikini plane wash, Wing House wings, vendor displays, roasted pig, and some awesome fried Mahi-mahi. Guests sought shade under the party tents and in hangars enjoying beverages provided by the Wing House, Central Florida Aviation and Red Bull. Vendors offered information on aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, fishing charters and more.
In recent years this airport has been in a state of flux due to a conflict between the owners and the developer. This weekend the mood was decidedly improved since the final improvements to the airport are finally underway, bringing an end to the ongoing concern that they may never be completed.
The event was sponsored by Central Florida Aviation, JH Audio, The Wing House, Kelly Aerospace and ACE Hardware and is expected to take place each summer.
Upcoming events at the airport include “Sundaes on Saturday,” July 11th, from 12:00 – 2:00 in Hangar 45.
